    I love the fact that you keyed into your childrens interests; some of my best products (physical) were inspired by my children.
    Definitely tap into the supply of Believers that are also graphics/3D designers, of which I am.
    Computer graphics have come a long way and the bar is set pretty high, and games now require some dazzle to attract new customers to even click on a game. I watched the game video on STEAM, and would recommend upscaling visuals and adding voices over simple text. The sounds and music were on a higher level than the graphics. Visually it had an older console style feel to it, which may be a deteriment and should be playable with mouse and keyboard.
    You may consider as a start, to discount the game as an alpha/beta version to increase revenue to upscale the entire game.
