Announcing CGDC Connect

For years, CGDC has shown up across multiple platforms—Discord, Facebook groups, DMs, email threads, and more. That reach helped us grow, but it also created a challenge: conversations became fragmented, leadership time was stretched thin, and important updates were easy to miss.

Today, we’re excited to share a meaningful step forward. We’re launching CGDC Connect, our new private community at connect.cgdc.org, built on the Circle platform.

Why a Private Community?

We know that moving away from familiar platforms like Discord or Facebook isn’t always easy. Many of us have favorite spaces we’ve invested time and relationships into, and change can feel inconvenient or even unnecessary at first.

But this move is about long-term health—for the community and the people who serve it.

By hosting our own private community:

  • We control the space – No algorithm deciding what you see, no ads, no data being mined.

  • We control the AI – Any AI features serve the community, not a third-party platform.

  • We reduce leadership burnout – Automations and integrations save our volunteer leaders and moderators hours each week.

  • We focus on communication – One central place for announcements, discussions, events, and resources.

Simply put: this helps CGDC stay sustainable while continuing to serve you well.

  • Easier ways to discover resources and conversations

  • Event updates and community announcements in one place

  • Better tools for connecting with others across games, disciplines, and experience levels

And as a thank-you for joining, everyone who creates an account will get access to last year’s CGDC conference videos—a full library of talks, panels, and sessions you may have missed or want to revisit.

What Happens to Discord and Facebook?

Over the course of this year, we’ll gradually wind down activity on Discord and Facebook groups while moving conversations and updates into CGDC Connect. This gives everyone time to transition at a comfortable pace while helping us bring the community together in one shared space.
