Every Entry Wins
Black Hole Fishing Community Giveaway Results
On April 7th, Black Hole Fishing launched on Steam — the result of a journey that started with a conversation at CGDC between Matt Stoering and Seth Crofton. To celebrate, we hosted a giveaway: purchase the game, leave a Steam review, and post a screenshot of it for a chance to win one of five $20 Steam gift cards.
Seven Entered. Seven Won.
Seven people stepped up to support the launch with reviews and genuine enthusiasm. So we decided — why pick five? Every single entrant is walking away with a $20 Steam gift card.

“If you love the the chill nature of Idle Clickers, but sometimes find the idle just a tad too boring, Black Hole Fishing will scratch that itch so hard you won't know where your afternoon went. I've been watching this one for a long time and after getting that core loop feeling nice, the solo dev just kept adding LAYERS of more systems to tinker with to maximize your fish value.
I won't spoil it, but for a game launching under $5, you'll have hours and hours and hours worth of coaxing fish into your black hole, hunting for new fish with new traits to add to your pond, and a bunch of activities that spiral off from there and of course a prestige system. If this showed up in your store because you've played similar, yer gonna have a good time.”

"Do I condone the throwing of rocks to aquatic life? No. Do I condone the dumping of bath bombs to attract chemically altered fish? No. Do I condone the feeding of a miniature black hole just because my lazy ass doesn't feel like hooking fish the proper way? Wellllll... This game is hilariously absurd in the way it works, beautifully rendered and put together. The gameplay just works so incredibly well, it is fun, quirky, infuriating, and delightful in one big bunch. Looking forward to everything else this game has to offer. Especially the fish cannon!"

"This is great! Very addicting. Love the new mechanics added since the demo. I've barely scratched the surface of what this game has to offer and I'm already getting addicted."

"Found myself playing this for hours. Overall I would recommend this game. There are a few bugs that I am sure will be addressed soon. Solid gameplay loop and fun!"

"The game sucked me in, and it added a bit of a learning curve. There was no problem for me. I am very excited to 100% the game. Artistically sound game with pretty good music. I would recommend for the price it is at."

"They say nothing can escape an Event Horizon. All concept of time is lost. I seemingly went in for a simple fishing trip to the pond, immediately looked at the clock and 5 hours had already passed. That's when I realized I had found it... the Cod Particle, and it was glorious. I also looked down, and my body was now a massive lump of spaghetti. I didn't care. I now see fish floating around my room. My wife just called me to dinner, and her head looked like a trout. I'm not sure this can be undone. Nuclear fishin' at its finest, you'll be hooked too!"
About the Game
Black Hole Fishing starts simple: catch fish, make money, upgrade your setup. Then it escalates. Before long, you're using a black hole to harvest fish at scale, breeding experimental species, launching them out of cannons, and operating something called the Large Halibut Collider™. It currently sits at Very Positive on Steam with over 160 reviews.
