AI-ASSISTED GAME DEV
Feb 21st, 11 am - 2 pm CST
Forget vibe coding — learn how to effectively harness generative AI to program games without sacrificing quality!
In this hands-on workshop, we’ll walk you through how to get started integrating AI into your game programming workflow, including:
How LLMs work, when to use them, and how different models compare for development tasks
Using the Cursor IDE and its built-in AI tools
A repeatable process for guiding AI from planning through implementation, so you stay in control
Putting it all together in Unity (though this works for any game engine!)No prior AI experience needed! This workshop will begin with 2 hours of teaching and guidance, followed by an open time for you to experiment and ask questions.
After this workshop, you'll have the tools and confidence to start using AI in your own projects!
Speaker
Matt Colón is a senior frontend developer and former engineering manager at Adobe, and has spent 20 years building web applications. His work includes the Adobe Experience Platform, Adobe Brand Concierge, and the next generation of the AI Assistant for the Experience Platform.
By night, he is an indie dev working on personal projects and taking on new challenges as a game developer, game designer, and UX designer. He has contributed to commercial releases as a programmer and technical producer for BAKLAVA with the nonprofit Games for Love, programmed enemy AI for an upcoming 2D survival horror game, and provided UX consulting for games such as Bug & Seek.
Over the past year, Matt has been deeply integrating AI-assisted development tools into both his professional work and his game dev projects. His current project is using AI to handle programming and editor tasks, allowing him to focus on game design and UX, which he will demo during the workshop.
